SU STEM DAY
Your child has been invited to attend a special tour hosted by the Southern University Agricultural Center. The event will take place on Tuesday, November 14th from 2:30pm-5:30pm. Your child will be picked up after school and transported to Southern University, students will receive a snack, connect with Southern University students, and be guided through the following learning objectives:
Skill Development:
Through hands-on sessions, we aim to teach various quilting techniques, ensuring that participants gain practical skills. By the end of the program, each student should be able to conceptualize and begin crafting a simple quilted project.
Demonstrations and Interactive Learning:
Live demonstrations, showcasing different quilting methods and styles. These demonstrations will be designed to inspire creativity and appreciation for the craft among the youth participants.
Fostering Creativity and S.T.E.A.M Integration:
Our intent is to illustrate the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M) within the realm of quilting, thereby fostering a multidisciplinary approach to learning and creativity.
Cultivating Mentorship and Community Engagement:
By pairing CAHES students with Big Buddy participants, we aim to establish a mentorship dynamic that encourages educational growth, personal development, and community involvement.
