In-School Writing Workshops are the lifeblood of WordPlay. WordPlay works with 350 high school students in ongoing in-school workshops at 6 Baton Rouge schools. Teaching poets work alongside teachers to implement a series of writing workshops that generate a culture of excitement about writing and teach basic and advanced skills. Partner teachers are the primary guides for WordPlay programs within each school community.

The WordPlay Curriculum Developed in-house by Anna and xerŘ, the WordPlay curriculum borrows from a number of the most current resources available on teen literacy and life skills development, while also focusing on the rich backgrounds offered by the teaching poets themselves.
