WordPlay Teen Writing Project could not continue to serve Baton Rouge teens without the generous support of our funders and members of the community like you.

If you would like to make a donation to WordPlay please contact Anna West at anna.write@gmail.com.

Volunteers Wanted

WordPlay is currently seeking volunteers for the following opportunities:

WordSkills Tutoring Project aims to cultivate meaningful and lasting literacy skills among Baton Rouge teens. As part of WordPlay Teen Writing Project, WordSkills promotes and sustains a culture of excitement about writing amongst teens, teaches basic and advanced literacy skills, helps teens see connections between content and conventions, and empowers teens to become self-directed learners.

Literacy Tutor Volunteers will be placed with one of WordPlay’s partner teachers for the spring of 2007. (WordPlay partner schools include: Broadmoor, Istrouma, Glen Oaks, McKinley, Northdale, and University High.) Volunteers will receive support and training from WordPlay prior to volunteering and will volunteer from 3-5 hours per week.

Literacy Tutor Volunteers must have excellent reading and writing skills.  Please download, complete, and return the APPLICATION to Anna Hirsch at mysongtrabong@gmail.com or 1415 Main Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.

If you are interested in volunteering with WordPlay but cannot commit to any of the above volunteer descriptions, email Anna Hirsch at mysongtrabong@gmail.com.  We'd still love to hear from you.
